Recent updates to Microsoft Excel introduced changes in how Pine BI and Pine BI Lite charts behave when created directly from data without category fields, or with data labels set to percentages. This new behavior caused certain visuals, most notably donut charts and several other category-optional charts, to stop working correctly. In some cases, Excel could even crash when generating these visuals.

We’ve fully addressed the issue and released updated versions of both Pine BI and Pine BI Lite. All affected visuals now work reliably with or without category fields, and error handling has been improved to align with Excel’s latest behavior.

What’s fixed
  • Donut charts

  • Visuals relying on optional category inputs

  • Rare Excel crashes triggered by these chart types

  • Updated error handling for improved stability and compatibility
